The steps

Find it

  1. In the menu on the left, under MANUFACTURING, tap Bills of Materials. On a phone, open the menu with the button at the top left first.
  2. The Recipes tab lists every recipe: what one run of a product consumes, finished goods before the parts made for them.

Write the recipe

  1. Tap New recipe.
  2. Tap Type a name or SKU, type desk and pick Ergonomic Sit-Stand Desk 1600mm, the product this recipe makes.
  3. Tap Standard build and type Assembled and coated as the recipe name.
  4. Under Component 1, tap Type a name or SKU, type coat and pick Powder Coat RAL 9010 (per kg).
  5. Tap Create recipe.

Scenario: someone else must approve the recipe

  1. Tap New recipe, then Type a name or SKU, type chair and pick Mesh Task Chair Pro.
  2. Tap Standard build and type Frame, coated as the recipe name.
  3. Under Component 1, tap Type a name or SKU, type coat and pick Powder Coat RAL 9010 (per kg).
  4. Under Status, tap Draft, then Create recipe. Nothing is built or planned from a draft.
  5. Tap Product, SKU or recipe, type chair, then tap Edit on its row.
  6. Tap Submit for approval. It now waits for somebody who can approve recipes.
  7. They tap Approve on its row. Sending it back instead needs a reason, which the author sees.

Scenario: see what one unit costs

  1. Tap Product, SKU or recipe, type desk, then tap Explode on the recipe's row.
  2. Every part is listed at every level with what one unit needs. Under Costed at, tap Stock on hand to price it as a build will post it.
  3. To see every recipe a part goes into before you change it, tap Where used on its row.

Scenario: a part changes on a recipe in force

  1. Tap Product, SKU or recipe, type desk, then tap Copy on the recipe's row. Ledgr suggests the next version.
  2. Tap Copy recipe. Every component comes across, and the copy is a draft until somebody approves it.
  3. The copy opens ready to edit. Change its parts, then tap Submit for approval.
  4. Once somebody taps Approve on its row, tap Make default there too, so planning and builds use the new version.

More detail is in the guide.

  1. What does Output per run tell Ledgr?

    • The selling price of one finished unit
    • How many units the listed components produce in one run
    • How many runs the factory can do in a day

  2. A recipe is saved as a draft. What can be built from it?

    • Anything, as long as somebody can approve recipes
    • Nothing, until it is submitted and approved
    • Only the first run

Nothing, until it is submitted and approved

  3. Why copy a recipe that is in force instead of rewriting it?

    • The copy is a new version that waits for approval, while builds carry on using the one in force
    • Changing a recipe deletes the units already built from it
    • A copied recipe costs less to build
