The steps

Find it

  1. In the menu on the left, under MANUFACTURING, tap Production. On a phone, open the menu with the button at the top left first.
  2. Work orders is the one list of everything you are building, whether material planning raised it or you did.

Raise and release the work order

  1. Tap New work order, tick Ergonomic Sit-Stand Desk 1600mm, then tap Raise work order. It starts as planned.
  2. Tap Search by order number, product or customer, type desk, then tap Release on its row. It is now committed to the floor.

Issue, book and complete

  1. Tap Search by order number, product or customer, type desk, then tap Open. The order shows its steps, its costs and its lots.
  2. Tap Issue material. Unless you say how many units to issue for, it picks everything the order still needs.
  3. Tap Issue. The components move from stock into work in progress at what their batches cost.
  4. Tap Book labour, tap 7.5 and type 6 for the hours worked, then tap Book labour. Hours add up, so a negative corrects a mistake.
  5. Tap Complete, check the quantity is the good units you built, then tap Build it. They go into stock at standard cost.

Scenario: see what the job really cost

  1. Tap Search by order number, product or customer, type desk, then tap Open on the finished order.
  2. Tap Costing & variances to compare what the job cost with its standard. The difference is posted to the variance accounts.

Scenario: the customer cancels the job

  1. Tap Search by order number, product or customer, type WO-0001, then tap Open.
  2. Tap Cancel order. Anything already issued or booked is written off to Manufacturing Scrap / WIP Write-off, and issued material does not go back on the shelf.
  3. Tap Cancel the work order. There is no undo, which is why Ledgr asks first.

More detail is in the guide.
