For accountants: see which clients need you, work in their books for a short visit, and keep your own notes and engagement letters.

The steps

Find it

  1. Signed in as your practice, Practice is the first item under ADMINISTRATION. Quickest: tap Search anything…, type prac and tap Practice under "Go to".
  2. The console opens on SARS deadlines: every client's returns, the ones due soonest first.

Visit a client's books

  1. Scroll to My clients: every business that has invited you, the one most in need of you first, with what needs you listed on its card.
  2. Tap Open books on a client. A bar across the top counts down fifteen minutes; if they run several companies, Ledgr first asks which one.
  3. Pick the company and work in their books as yourself. When you are done, tap Leave on the bar to end the visit and return to your own practice.

Scenario: Open books is missing on a card

  1. Under My clients, a card without Open books says why: that client shares only workload or compliance access. Only they can change it, in their Settings under Accountant access.

Scenario: you want your own notes on a client

  1. On a client's card, tap Your own fields to keep what your practice tracks, such as which partner looks after them. Only your practice sees these; the client never does.

Scenario: a client has not signed an engagement letter

  1. Under Engagement letters, tap Write letter beside the client. Tick what it covers and change the starting fees to yours.
  2. Choose the period it covers, then Write the letter. The card under Engagement letters shows whether the client has signed it.

More detail is in the guide.
